Angine de Poitrine and other 2 pieces

I'm a bit late to the party but I suppose better late than never. I finally got around to checking out Angine de Poitrine on KEXP live. It is really good. No I mean it, it is really bloody good. Also the costumes are silly in the best kind of way. I have seen some weird stuff in my time and this fits the bill for weird. Is it the weirdest? Maybe, it is up there.

Angine de Poitrine are a two piece band who play a propulsive everything rock that uses microtonal notes which is a thing that isn't often done. I am not music theory professional but from what I'v seen it's a thing that Turkish musicians use. Anyway the polka dot duo is fun and the KEXP sure hooked me because before I realised I was tapping my foot a long with the drums and marveling at the jazz bass lines that were so deep in the pocket that I could have sat there for hours. The duo are tight almost like they share a single mind and this shows in the second song they play with a stop start intro. They are also not afraid to let loose and rock out once they have jammed for a bit. Songs can go from groovy jazz bits to near freakout psych moments that threaten to propel you to the outer rim of the solar system. Honestly check it out.

Now since I am a fan of two piece bands,my last post was about The Body, I feel I should recommend some more. First up is White Hills. This psych duo have been around since way back in the day and are a institution in the psych scene. Also they are just cool as hell and were featured in the film Only lovers left alive by Jim Jarmusch which is dope in my books.

Next up is the noise rock duo Lightning Bolt. This is not for the faint of heart. They do not let up when they get going and really put the noise in noise rock. Iv yet to see them live but it looks like they put on a mad show.

Finally lets go underground. Back in 2018 I discovered the noise scene in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A collective called Jogja Noise Bombing made noise on the streets and introduced my to a whole other side of sound and sound creation. The Duo ASU(USA) is a weird noise/art movement project that is really cool.
